I just received my HP Pavillion dv5 last week and so far it's been working well. However, the volume bar (above the keyboard) is always lit all the way, no matter what the sound settings are. Is it supposed to be so? I'd imagine it'd reflected the volume's height. How do I fix it? Thanks!
P.S. So don't want to send it back due to the miniscule problem!

HI , there is a resloution for this problem , what you have to do is first turn off the notebook and remove the battery and disconnect all the cables connected to the notebook. now open the lid of the notebook and press and hold the power key for approx a min . after that start your computer , and after that if at all if it dosent start then reinstall the Sound drivers for the Notebook from Hp recovery manager ..it should solve the problem for you .

tried updating the drivers with no success - any more suggestions??
very annoying snag - the laptop is only 2 weeks old, but i have spent so long transferring and configuring, i don't want it to have to go back.
