Volume keys on HP Pavilion G series notebook

How do I disable the volume keys (f8, f9 and f10)? Our son keeps turning the volume up to max! I assume that if we disable the keys we can adjust the volume via the control panel.

Please use plain text.

Re: Volume keys on HP Pavilion G series notebook

Hi,

The function of these keys is installed by the Audio driver, so there's no real way to disable them, however you can change a setting in the bios called 'Action Keys Mode'.  If you set this to Disabled, you will then have to use the fn key in combination with the f key to affect the volume etc.

To make this change, shut down the notebook.  Tap away at f10 as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu and then make the change shown in the document on the link below.
