audio issues with microphone, headset and speakers!!!

i have a hp pavilion dv6 notebook pc, 32 bit operating system.

i am having issues with audio when i plug in my headphones no problem, but when i change it to my headset & microphone in one the sound  nore does the microphone. however sometimes the microphone works but no sound. then when i plug back in my my speakers or my headphones sound does not produce.

I rebooted my notebook and only one source of either speaker, headphones or my headphone and microphone in one will work at anyone time, if i want to change i have to keep rebooting.

pelase help!! i needd audio for school! thanksss heapps!!!!

is it a hardware problem??

im so angry because i bought this laptop for its greatness and this happens.. not happy! but im not much a of a computer wiz so im not sure if its something im not aware of or harware is damaged!!!

I am also having difficulty with the volume of my DV6-1350 and quality of the sound. I haven't used the microphone or headset so can only address the problem with the speakers. The sound is pitiful. HELP What are others doing? I've maxed out all the audio/volume applications and now it's OK but not great. NOTE: Technical support is not addressing this issue with me and HP refused to take back the laptop when I'd only had it one month! "Holy Non-Support, Batman!"
