I am having trouble with dv6-6078ei beats audio, can not record and can not use skype. Have already reinstalled IDT Audio, but now beats Audio has also gone missing.

Hi mt65,
Beats Audio doesn't control your recording and skype, so if those things weren't working it was likely some other issue. When you installed that other driver, it appears you caused a conflict. You can reinstall the Beats Audio software through Software Program Reinstallation in HP System Recovery.

Thank you for your advice. On restarting my computer the next day, it was looking for .startup as the beat audio was back? Since then beats audio is working again, however the sound recorder is still not working, I have followed the instructions for troubleshooting on the sound recorder, but still not working. I am not sure if I am not missing something small as I have tried various configurations in the audio setup. Perhaps you have some advice, it would be most appreciated.

Have you tried using both internal and external microphones? Have you tried all the troubleshooting steps listed in this HP Support document on Resolving Microphone Problems:
