My dv6815nr pavillion laptop no longer seems to have sound. When I hover over the speaker icon in the bottom right hand of my screen (which now has a red circle with a white x over it) it states "No audio device is installed". I tried reinstalling my drivers. My control panel option does not display a audio device. I have fully restored my computer to factory defaults. Still nothing, I tried installing a game today and it told me that there was no soundcard found. When I try to install my contenxtant driver it says it cannot find the hardware. I'm at a loss...assistance please?

I never have. However, for some reason after a few weeks it started working again. It has given me audio for two days, hopefully it will stay.
Sorry I can't be more helpful. Try updating again.

Interestingly enough, the problem went away for me as soon as I installed the Realtek High-Definition Audio Driver for Windows Vista (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloa
