I have an HP Laptop dm4-1173 running Windows 7 Home Premium. In Skype, there is no dial tone, and I cannot hear when someone answers. I don't know if they can hear me either. When playing music, there is a high pitched very shrill noise that occurs, and the volume sounds very low and will not increase, but if one tries to increase volume the shrill noise becomes worse. The only way I have been able to turn off this shrill noise is by turning off the microfone (muting it). Please help with this problem! I tried one solution offered--to remove the IDT driver and replace it with another, but once downloaded, an error message said that this was not the correct driver for my device.
