Hi apexthe, would please give us some background here, to help us in looking up your unit and drivers, what country are you in?
What Bit rate is your music in that you are having issues with on this Notebook?
We ship out sample Music files with the Notebook, if you have not deleted them you may have "Kalimba" by "Mr.. Scruff" do you hear the issue playing this track?
For the troubleshooting you mentioned removing the driver that had been suggested "IDT", did you reinstall it after?
I would like to know what audio driver version you have, you can see it in Device Manager.
What BIOS version do you have?
There are several ways to find the BIOS version on your notebook, here are a few:
1. If your Notebook is powered off please press the power button and begin to tap the "f10"key, that will take you into the BIOS and you can see the version there.
2. If you are already in Windows try holding down the "fn" key and pressing the "esc" key at the same time, this should bring up a small system information window.
3. You can Launch HP Support Assistant, there should be an icon on your desktop, it’s a question mark.
You can launch it, click on the “Learn” pillar and then on the right under “specifications” click on the “more information” arrow and you can see the BIOS version in that list.
That's plenty of information to get us started, thank you.

my bios version F.06 i'm user from india and in the songs you mentioned i feel no problem but the songs i played on my home computer varies from 64 to 320kbps when i copied and played them on hpdv6-7012tx there was problem sound autometicaly decreases and indreasing that was too anyoing then as a user suggest i uninstaal the idt driver nd let windows to install it itself but problem remains there then i select 3d option in beats drivers then the diffrence between the the increaseing and decreasing sound decreases a little bit... i dont know where is the problem but please give me solution as i'm regular listner to songs but the quality of sound in dv6 is very disapointing. i believe that hp wont let its ranking down due to these types of faults nd shortly they will come with solution
sales man told me to use only 320kbps songs in laptop not to use other bit rates but it is not possible i've to change whole my music library consisting around 10000 songs nd my mobile phone and computer is playing them with no issue then why dere is probem with dv6 laptop
i must say a machine should me made according to customers , customer will not change himself for machine if you cant provide the solution then i would have no way beside to dump hp dv6 and will go for dell xps with jbl sound my friend is having it and its sound quality is amezing nd it dont have any problem like dv6

i have been taking with the HP technician for quite a time and today he told me a solution for it.it is working fine for me.he told me to use the laptop on high performance, cause the laptop consists on 4 speakers and 1 subwoofer so it needs much power.try it and tell me if it worked for you.

nothing is working for me except selecting movies or 3d effects in beats conrol panel although it decreases the sound but the glitches became so small so that they would not come into notice the default music effect in beats control panel is just terible hp should provide update for its beats audio system
