Re: sound

Hi,

Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Display Devices - make a note of the hardware listed here i.e. ATI, NVidia or Intel.

Next, connect your notebook via HDMI to your Tv.  Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click once ( just to highlight the entry ) the HDMI Output that has the same name as your display adapter and then click the Set Default button - see if you now have audio through the Tv.

Regards,

Re: sound

Hi,

Can you let me know the following.

1.  Is your graphics chip Intel?

2.  Is the version of Vista you're running the OS that came with the notebook or an installation from a retail disc?

3.  Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers - is there an entry for the Intel High Definition Audio Device listed here?

Regards,

Re: sound

Hi,

Once again, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Right click an empty area of this window and make sure that both 'Show disconnected devices' and 'Show disabled devices' are ticked - does the Intel entry show now.

If there is still no entry for this, try using Recovery Manager to reinstall your Intel Graphics Driver - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the relevant document on the link below.

Recovery Manager - Windows Vista

After the reinstallation has completed, restart the notebook and check if the Intel HDMI entry now shows under Playback Devices.

Regards,
