volume scroll touchpad does not work [ Edited ]

The tip of whipping out the battery, holding down the on button for 30 secs then restarting worked a treat.  Many thanks.

Downloading the new driver worked like a charm!  Now the volume scroll is working again.  Thanks and kudos to Cyclops!

Thanks, I followed the instructions and they worked perfectly.  Big problem simple answer.

I have a dv7 notebook running 64 bit windows 7 home edition.  The touch pad above the keyboard does not work.  It will not control audio functions, nor is the wireless indicator lit.  When touching the audio scroll bar with a small amount of pressure, all the lights disappear, making me think there may be a hardware malfunction.  I have removed the battery and held down the power button for one minute, as was previously suggested.  This did not help.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.
