Beats Audio won't toggle on or off. It is on all the time. The beats button on the right side of the laptop has no effect. The "fn + b" function has no effect. This is on an HP Envy 14.

Welcome to the HP Forums!
I would like to take a moment and thank you for using the forum, it is a great place to find answers. For you to have the best experience in the HP forum, I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I see that you are unable to turn the Beats Audio on or off. Have you tried running The HP Support Assistant, to aid with looking for updates and troubleshooting. I am not sure this will help but here is a link to Beats Volume Control Direction Setting Does Not Work.
If you would like further assistance, would you please provide the exact model of Envy 14 you have and the Operating System you are running. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?

I regret that did not help. Woud you try uninstalling and reinstalling the IDT driver. Here is a link to the download page. HP Spectre Ultrabook CTO 14t-3200 Drivers. Click on Audio to display the driver. Please let me know it that fixed it.

thanks again for the reply. I downloaded and installed the IDT High Definition Audio Driver. I re-booted and still have the issue. Beats will not toggle on or off. The button on the side of the computer has not effect either.

Thank you for your reply, I regret that this has not resolved the issue.
Have you tried running the built in troubleshooter?
Press the Windows key + C to open charms
Type troubleshoot sound in the search bar and press enter
Follow the on screen prompts.
If this has not resolved it, you could try a restore back to a known good date. Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8)
If that has not fixed it, I suggest you do a recovery. Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8). During the recovery process you will receive a prompt to backup your personal files. If you have not done one yet, I suggest you do it now to prevent data loss. Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows 8).
Please let me know the outcome.

the troubleshooter cleared up most of the issues. The physical "Mute" button is now working. I now have sound, I can turn "Beats" on and off from the "Beats" menue screen. The side "Beats" physical button does not work and "fn b" does not funtion. not huge issues at this point.

I am glad that most of the issues have been alleviated!
I also grasp that the buttons are still not responding on the keyboard. Here is a link to Notebook Keyboard Troubleshooting (Windows 8), please not the section on" problem with extra buttons or volume control". If this has not resolved it completely, I suggest contacting HP support.
