Bought Compaq Presario CQ20-205TU No Drivers? XP not supported?

Hello everybody,

I just bought used HP Compaq Presario CQ20-205TU, and I wish to re-install it with my XP Professional

So I Download some drivers and softwares (from HP)...., to my "stupidity" I forgot to double check the drivers. I thought everything is complete.

So I load my cd, delete the old partition.... created a brand new.... there you go a fresh new Xp professional (luckily it has SATA driver included).

But I have a "mute" OS, and "poor" display (I just found out that sound driver, and graphic adapter driver are not included)

The wireless won't work, nor the blue tooth, and modem (basically everything that is integrated)

So where could I find these drivers?

Thanks for viewing, and bigger thanks for answering..... God bless you :smileyhappy:

So...we need information from your motherboard. Download SisoftSandralite(free version). Start Sandra and go to the Hardware module and then to Onboard devices and mainboard information. Post what Sandra says about your onboard graphics chip, audio controller, bluetooth and wireless and modem. Also post the chipset that sandra displays. We will then go from that point to find drivers, if they are available.

Re: Bought Compaq Presario CQ20-205TU No Drivers? XP not supported?

i was able to find all the necessary drivers for the compaq cq20-205tu... i used a program called DriverMax and it helped me find a lot of drivers. i also downloaded all the drivers from the hp website for the xp OS. i also google the device name under device manager and look it up on the internet.

it's hard to find drivers for this model if you're using XP since this is designed for Vista.

Hi there!

I'm also planning to buy the Compaq Presario CQ20-205TU this weekend and I also want to use Windows XP.

Were you able to install everything? Does the speakers/webcam/wi-fi/bluetooth work?

So far, what would be your rating?

I hope you reply asap. thanks!:smileyhappy:

yeah, i was able to install everything and all works fine.

speakers are good, webcam is great (nice resolution), bluetooth also works fine and wireless LAN.

the wireless LAN connection disconnects every once in a while for unknown reason, although i've installed every possible updated drivers...

the screen is ok... the keyboard layout is not good. i have a hard time with the right shift because i keep on hitting the ?/ instead of shift.

the touch control are sensitive. i accidentally touch the wifi icon and my wifi connection got disconnected.

there is one touchscreen key i can't find out how to work. it's like a circle.

everything else is fine. you just have to be very patient in finding the xp drivers because they're not easy to find. i've spend 2 days updating the drivers, updating the xp os up to service pack 3 etc etc.

That circle touch icon is for HP DVD Player.

Do you guys have a link to the complete set of XP drivers for the CQ20? A link would be nice. Hehehe. It's hard finding all those drivers on the net. So if someone would be so kind to upload it all, thanks!

Re: Bought Compaq Presario CQ20-205TU cabled lan connection

Hello!!.. bought a compaq presario cq20-205tu, but been wondering how to connect to the internet using my cabled DSL connection.. ive connected the cable from the dsl line to my laptop, and created a connection on the CONNECT TO in the START UP button, but my other problem is that whenever i create another connection, the only choices are 1) create a wireless connection  2)i forgot the other 3)the last one is the connection through broadband, dsl, modem( so i chose this option).. but everytime im in this setup, it always dials up a connection( so it means that it is a dial-up connection setup and not the unlimited internet surfing) and i never dial to connect to the internet..

help me :smileysad:

Thanks!!!

Have a nice day!

Re: Bought Compaq Presario CQ20-205TU cabled lan connection

Hi,

Unless you are adding wireless, creating another connection is never necessary.  It would help, in a big way, if you stated which OS is installed.

regards,

erico
