CQ60-615DX Microphone inaudible

The internal microphone in inaudible. it recorded for a second then becomes very choppy and appears to mute. I have unchecked the auto adjust for mic. Reinstalled the drivers and uninstalled and reinstalled the device. I also did a complete restore from the image in my hard drive. I am running the latest drivers available. any help would be appreciated.

I guess I should add i'm running windows 7 64/   the audio driver is Conexant pebble high def. smart audio.

zadrad--We are seeing more and more microphone issues across several systems using the Conexant smart audio chip in Win 7.  There are threads all over the forum regarding this.  No fix as yet...not that I've seen or heard.
