I've recently bought a new laptop, a HP Pavilion np something but its a decent little mid-range machine. I've had it less than a month and its already making random buzzing sounds during audio playback (whether this be iTunes, YouTube etc it doesnt matter, does it for them all). Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this?

PS operating system is windows 8, don't know if this will make a difference.

Hi Harvh, welcome to the HP Forums. What is the model number of your notebook? Does the buzzing happen through the speakers, headphones or both?

Hi bethb10. Feedback could be caused by the microphone being active, and playing back through the speakers. For instrutions find the section "Microphone or line-in device is not working with the computer / Step 2: Check volume and mute settings" here:  Resolving Microphone and Line-in Problems (Windows 😎

If that doesn't help, try to restore the original IDT audio drivers using this method:  Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 😎

Let me know if it helps.

Serial number: [edited by Moderator]

The problem occurs both when earphones are plugged in through the speakers.

If you have tried the previous driver steps, tried a different power source, done a hard reset, then I am not sure what is causing it. You might want to contact support to investigate a possible hardware cause.
