Hi k9silentmike, welcome to the HP Forums. To better help you troubleshoot your issue I will need to know some more information. What is the model number of your DV7? What version of Windows is installed? What sort of CD's are you trying (ie. Audio, video, data)? Have you tried DVD's? Can you manually start the CDs?

HP Envy dv7 Notebook PC with Windows 8.1.  Product ID {Personal Information Removed}.  Just updated to 8.1 and Media Player started working.  Now the HP TruVision HD camera does not function.

Hi k9silentmike.The Product ID you have provided seems like a Windows product key. What is the complete model number of your DV7 (refer to the document in my last post) ?

It is possible that this notebook has not been tested to work in Windows 8.1 Once you get your model number you can use it on this site to verify.

If it has been tested, you can probably download updated Web Cam Drivers on your product's HP driver download page.
