I have HP pavilion g6, there is no audio on my laptop

i am from india and Purchase Laptop from USA

Hi,

 

First, try a Hard Reset as follows.

 

Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and start the notebook.

 

If the above fails to help, can you post back with the following.

 

1.  The full Model No. and Product No. of the notebook ( from the service tag underneath your notebook ) - see Here for a further explanation.

 

2.  The full version of the operating system you are using ( ie Windows 7 32bit ).

Hi,

 

Try the following.

 

Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

 

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55036.exe

 

When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.

 

When complete, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load.  Open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

 

If you still have no audio, open windows Control Panel, open Administrative Tools and open Services.  Check that the following services are all showing as Status= Started and Start-up Type= Automatic

 

Audio Service

Multimedia Class Scheduler

Windows Audio

Windows Audio Endpoint Builder

 

If you need to make a change to any of the above, just right click the service and select Properties, then in the dropdown box next to 'Start-up type',  select Automatic and click Apply to save the change.  Then click the Start button.

My laptop had fallen since there is no sound when i attach the External Speakers & No sound in my laptop , please help me

Had same issue with g6 yesterday. Tried usual driver updates etc which didn't work. DavidPK's solution worked. Like standing on one foot, tapping head and rubbing stomach at the same time...but it worked. Must have resulted from an auto update. Thanks!

I went through the steps you suggested and my audio still isnt working. Can you please help? I have a g6 series laptop as well. This all happened just after i updated the BIos software. Seems to be a glitch in that update.

Hi Dustin,

 

It might be worth resetting the bios defaults as follows.

 

Shut down the notebook.  Tap away at f10 as soon as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.

 

If the above does not correct the issue, can you post back with the following.

 

1.  The full Model No. and Product No. of the notebook ( from the service tag underneath your notebook ) - see Here for a further explanation.

 

2.  The full version of the operating system you are using ( ie Windows 7 32bit ).

Thank you so much for the useful info, the hard reset worked for me even though i thought the next solution made more sense but it did not work untill i did the reset.

Crazy but it works, DP-K, how did you figure out the steps, especially 30 sec? Anyone with speaker issues on Pavilion g6 series laptops,  I suggest you try this first. Thanks DP-K:
