Re: why is there no sound coming from my laptop?

Hi,

Can you post back with the following.

1.  The full Model No. and Product No. of the notebook - see Here for a guide on locating this information.

2.  The full version of the operating system you are using ( ie Windows 7 64bit ).

Regards,

[ Edited ]

We also have no sound on our HP Pavilion dv6.  It comes out of the headphone jack, but not speakers.  When I try to check the sound, it says "failed to play test tone"  Here is my info:

Model:  HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC

Product #:  A6YO7UA#ABA

Windows:  Windows 7 Home Premium Version 6.1 (build 7601 svcpack1)

Have tried running test and it finds no issues.  Also tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers and that didn't work either.  Rand update and updated BIOS and still nothing with speakers, only headphone works.

Any help anyone could give would GREATLY be appreciated!!!

Re: why is there no sound coming from my laptop?

Have you tried installing the latest Audio driver for your model?

To install latest driver_ Get your Product Number by pressing Fn + Esc key or check the Service Tag attached to bottom, may be under battery.

Go to the link 'Support & Drivers' at top of this page.Enter your Product Number .After entering PN, click Next ,then choose Software & Drivers. On the next page use the dropdown to select your OS (probably Windows 7 64bit). A list will populate with drivers. Download & Save the latest Audio driver.

Go into Control Panel,Programs & Features- Uninstall IDT software.Restart the laptop. After Windows loads, install IDT audio using the downloaded file.
