Administrator Bios Password won't work on HP 4420s XT940UT#ABA Windows 7 64 Bit

Someone please help me with this!!

I bought this laptop from a friend (have a receipt) who sold it to me because the screen was cracked and all spidered out when you turned it on. Well everywhere he went to ask about getting the screen fixed it was very expensive ($250 - $350) and he said he would just get a newer laptop. So he sold me this one which is a HP4420s XT940UT#ABA Probook Model. About a week after I bought this Probook the friend who sold it to me died suddenly. This was sudden and terrible. Some time later I got around to buying the LCD screen for this model, replaced it myself (was very easy actually) and booted up the laptop with a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro edition 64 Bit. After installing all my software and using the laptop for quite some time now, I wanted to get into the Bios which I had never done. So when I started up the laptop, hit escape, then F10 to enter BIOS, there were two places to enter a password which is different then any Dell I've ever owned. One was mine I guees that I set up using HP protect tools and the other says BIOS/Administrator. Well I can make most changes using the one I set up with my password however my password doesn't work nor can I get into some of the very important changes I wanted to make using the Bios/Administrator, like turning on the LoJack, figuring out the hard disk lock etc, turning on turbo boost, fan controls, etc. Well Since the person I bought it from is no longer with us, there is no one to turn to for the answer to this Administrator/BIOS password question / problem.  I tried taking out the Rtype battery and resetting it that way, didn't work. I called HP multiple times and they sent me to a BIOS page to download the same BIOS I have already, wouldn't let me install it. When I bring up the command prompt and put in BiosConfigureUtility.exe nothing happens, just tells me wrong command. When I try to get into the BIOS going through the C: file into the SSM files, I reach the BiosConfigUtility.exe file, click on it to open and it just flashes a small command page way to fast to read what it says. I would like to have complete control over my laptop figuring I have so much time and money invested into it now. Could the problem have something to do with installing the 64 bit version of Windows 7 instead of the 32 bit I guess it originally came with? I have all the manuals and they say that this laptop is Windows 7 Pro Ultimate 64 bit compatible so that's what I installed. I get mixed answers from a lot of different people on this and would like a answer from an HP person who has experience dealing with the BIOS in the Business models of Probooks if possible please. I really like this Probook and have since became a major fan of HP over Dell and Lenovo products.  I plan to buy two more probooks, one for my wife and one for my daughter because this one is like a MacBook, only better.  Thank you for reading this and hopefully someone can help.

Hi,

You need to log formal support case with HP phone support/email team. post which HP team can get a SMC file to reset the password for specific machine. you may need to provide UUID and other details to HP.

What is the UUID? I've called HP twice, they have all my info. What department do I ask for? Can you tell me what I need to ask them exactly to save time. What files I need sent etc.

once you log a support case with HP customer care, they will provide you once utility and steps to run it. which can capture the UUID. BTW- UUID is a unique ID for each machine (16 or more digits) stored in BIOS itself.

Once the utility results(UUID and other info) in the log file, shared with HP. they can generate a key file(SMC) to reset.

well, Technical support depertment can help you in it, no need to ask for any specific person or department.

An hp tech specialist called out of nowhere and sent me some files with directions to try. They didn't work so I was online with HP chat for an hour and they finally upgraded my problem to a level 4 and said someone would be calling me with more answers. I had to give them all my info including the UUID number (when u start a hp probook, hit escape, then hit F1 for laptop information, something like that, and it will give u all ur info, including one huge set of letters and numbers called the UUID. It's 32 characters long!!! Let yall know what happens from here, but if you have the same problem, start out with getting the UUID using F1 and then call HP and tell them u need to talk with a level 4 tech.

well if anyone else has a problem forgetting the bios password on any probook model with a TPM security chip this is what you have to do if you forget your password and need a reset.

Call HP, have your problem bumped to level 4 tech, send that tech all your UID info, tech sends you back a file. Save the file. Shut off laptop. Hold UP, DOWN, and the windows button all at once and turn laptop on while holding the 3 buttons. Laptops goes through a few things (you'll know because the fan started blowing super hard) when the HP logo comes up on the screen you let go off the 3 buttons and hit F10 and BAM your BIOS are factory reset........
