After bios update computer will not post-no beeps- keeps rebooting

I am working on a friends laptop.  Compaq 6120US running XP.  I DL the bios update to try and fix the wireless not working. Laptop will not post.  No beeps.  Tried resetting holding down button for 1 minute and reboot without battery just AC  no luck.  Did the same with only the battery..no luck.  Pulled the CMOS battery for 10 minutes and plugged in with AC..no luck...I am 99 percent sure the bios upgrade DL from HP corrupted the bios on the system.  If I turn it on it continually reboots..no post...no beeps just lights on the front and the audio on lights.  The CD does get recognized (light on it goes on).  Tried putting in a OS cd to see if it would give me something..but nothing...Can i load the bios from CD or usb thumbdrive onto the laptop..
