Attempted boot into Recovery Environment gives 0xc000000e error - 'device not accessible'

HP Pavilion g4-1117dx laptop 4Gb, running Win 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Tried to boot into the Recovery Environment via the HP Recovery Manager (Rebecca.exe v 2.0.9.0 3/25/12)

However, I get to Windows Boot Manager screen that shows 0xc000000e error - device is not accessible

I scanned the HP_TOOLS partition for errors, including a sector scan, but it did not detect any errors.

FYI - I have repair disks that I created.  Is it possible to repair or recover just the HP_TOOLS partition?

Just to be clear, the problem is with my Recovery partion only.  Win 7 in main boot is working fine.

Suggestions to fix or repair, please?

HP tools is different than the recovery partition.

Try using F11 at boot to see if recovery partition will load.

Re: Attempted boot into Recovery Environment gives 0xc000000e error - 'device not accessible'

Duh, I realized after posting that it's not HP_TOOLS partition that is the problem.  It is the RECOVERY partition. Given that from what I have read, it looks like the ony way to fix the recovery partition is to do a complete factory reset.

If you know of some other way to fix the recovery partition without going thru rebuilding everything, I would appreciate it.  Not a big deal if there is not an alternate solution.  I have a set of recovery DVD's that I built.

run a chkdsk on the recovery partition if you have not done this yet.

Yep, did that this morning. Did both chkdisk w/file fix and sector scan. No errors...

Don't know what else to suggest other than using Recovery discs to reinstall everything. If you have recovery discs, the recovery partition is not really needed, more of a convenience than using discs, that's all.

Re: Attempted boot into Recovery Environment gives 0xc000000e error - 'device not accessible'

Basically, I agree.  I have recovery disks so I do not need the RECOVERY partition on the drive.  And there is no way i want to rebuild my system from scratch.  No big deal.  Thanks for your help!
