Hi,

Can anyone help me on this please ?

I am not sure of the BIOS Administrator password on my HP Zbook 17, When I press Esc after a reboot and Enter into BIOS Setup mode, it is asking for Administrator password which I have forgotten.

Product Name: HP Zbook 17

SKU Number: F9W01UC#ABA

After 3 attempts, it come to a new screen with the following

"On-Screen Keyboard"
then display a keyboard on the screen only.

If I press enter again,

I get

"Authentication failed"

"system locked"

"Press the power button to restart the system"

Please help me on this !!

Dan

Dear Customer,

Welcome to HP Support Forum and we are glad to assist you.

This is to inform you that all HP Business Notebooks such as Probooks or Elitebooks have more stringent security than consumer models infact they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial Number and the

code is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case.

Please have a look at this link.

Or replace the BIOS chip

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-Probook-4320s-4420s-4520s-4525s-4720s-6450b-6550b-6555b-Bios-Chip-No-Pas...

Please Contact HP Business Notebook support they should be able to send you a customized SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.

Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again
