Cyberlink DVDs Not working...

The Cyberlink DVD's I spent hours creating for recovery do not work. Is there some place I can download recovery software for dv7-4273us?

Hi:

No, there isn't.

You will have to order recovery disks by following the info at the link below.

http://www.mydigitallife.info/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-from-digital-river/

In the meantime, while you wait to get your recovery disks (or you can live with this if you want), I have a workaround for you...If you can read your 25 digit Windows 7 product key

Using the 25 character Microsoft windows 7 product key, you can download plain Windows 7 ISO files to burn to DVD's for the OEM version of windows (I assume Home Premium).

So, download and burn the W7 Home Premium 64 bit ISO file to a DVD.

Burn the ISO using the Burn ISO option on your DVD burning program and burn at the slowest possible speed your program will allow. This will create a bootable DVD.

Use the 25 character product key from your install kit to activate the installation.

The key will activate either a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to your notebook's support and driver page and install any drivers you need.

 http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&lc=en&product=5052150&

Link to the W7 ISO file downloads is below.

Re: Cyberlink DVDs Not working...

Thanks for your help Paul. Got her up and running finally, but I have  anew problem.

This stupid computer now refuses to recognize the wireless adapter.

I;ve tried every soluion I could find on this site and a few others.

Any ideas that just might actually work, short of replacing the adapter. It works with old damaged hardrive.

Re: Cyberlink DVDs Not working...

Hi:

Do you know what driver you need for it?

If not, it should be showing up in the device manager as a network controller with a little yellow ! mark.

Click on that device, then click on the details tab.

In the Properties drop down list, select the second item (Hardware ID's).

Post the top string of characters you see in the window.

Those will ID the model of the wireless adapter you have and I can send you the link to the drivers you need.

Sometimes HP doesn't list all of the driver downloads for the cards that could have come with the PC.

Re: Cyberlink DVDs Not working...

It's a miracle! I fixed it with your little nudge there.  You wouldn't believe how much time I've spent on this piece-a... I was about ready to declare it a boat anchor.

Thanks a lot for your help, Paul.

p.s. The link to order recovery CD's is broken. I'll have my friend call and order some when I give this beast back to her. I'll just end up swearing at HP CS again.

Re: Cyberlink DVDs Not working...

You're very welcome.

Glad you got it to work.

Your friend will have to call HP and order the disks, since the link is broken.

I have rarely seen the  recovery disk links work, but the fact that a link is there normally means they have the disks.

Best regards,

Paul
