Hi All,
I have HP Envy 17-2100ex.
I installed the Windows Server 2008 on it on C partition. Now I want to back to my recovery windows. When I press F11 I got the message "Error: Recovery Manager cannot run from the hard drive. Recovery Manager must be run using recovery media to perform a Factory Reset" .
I forget to burn my recovery on a disc.
What can I do now, please please help me.

Hi,
You can order a replacement set of Recovery Discs using the link below.

If you have any problem with this link, order them directly from HP.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.

Hi,
You won't be able to create a set of Recovery Discs using Window Server 2008.
There may be a work around if you have ( or can borrow ) a retail Windows 7 installation disc that is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - ie if your notebook came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit this is the exact retail version you would need.
If you don't have access to a retail disc, you can create an installation disc yourself - just download the correct Disc Image from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD.
Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the underside of your notebook when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.

Any additional drivers you may need can be found Here.

Hi,
No problem ![]()
The error you see when trying to run the f11 recovery means you need to reinstall the original Windows 7 operating system using Recovery DVDs - as you don't have these discs and cannot order a replacement set, the method I described in my previous post gives you another way of reinstalling Windows 7.
If there is any specific part of the process you'd like to be explained further, please let me know.

DP-K

OK , I see.
But this does not solve my problem in recovering the original one. I read an articel, they said to set the partition which has the recovery data as active partition in Computer Management of windows and restart the pc.
do you think this may solve the problem?

Hi,
As you receive an error from the Recovery Partition, I'm not at all certain this would work - if you wish to try this, the procedure is detailed below.
--------------------------------------------------
Boot in to Windows, hold down the Windows Key and press R. Into the Run Box type compmgmt.msc and hit enter. Click Disk Management in the left pane and when the partitions have loaded, right click the Recovery Partition and mark it as 'Active'. Close all open windows and then restart - if this has worked, the notebook will boot from the Recovery Partition upon restart.
--------------------------------------------------
Please note however that in most respects, the process I've previously described to reinstall Windows 7, will give you back the original OS.

DP-K
