Hi!
This is becoming a real bug bear of mine and it just winds me up....
I have just bought a HP ProBook 4530s for a customer...
The first problem ...no recovery cd software?! Recovery partitions aren't much good after a couple of years down the road.....and since when do you sell a computer with just a recovery partition and no back up cd software?!
Next problem:
HP in all its wisdom decided to not just have a recovery partition...but also a tools partiton and work out the number of primary partitions you have...yes,you got it four?!
I have always made it a practice to create an extra partition for the customer to have his user account, so that in case of crashes....and let's face it they are around the corner....
I don't want to start removing partitions on a new computer and it sorts of defeats the object only having the C: partition to keep your files on.
This makes any computer guy's life a real nightmare....!!
This is a absolutely stupid system and it is only a matter of time until the customer comes and says my computer has crashend and the recovery partiton doesn't work!!!
Got a computer with that problem at the moment....

Hi CherylG![]()
OK I hear you and I am well aware of what one can do....not my point. I think it is wrong to suggest to a customer that we can do this and that and fix things how we want....
One doesn't need the system partition depending on your windows version and what you are doing...but I shouldn't have to remove stuff to fix this problem.
I have a lot of experience of computers and recovery partitions and in general recovery partitions are crap because the first time a customer probably needs to use it the computer can be severa years old and then the partition doesn't work because of file damage etc....happened many times.....
I do thank you for the info...
I am used to reminding customers to burn their recovery cd's when the computer is new, but that doesn't always work either...and this particular computer hasn't the option to burn recovery cd's...
Of course I wont leave my customer in the lurch and will create a wim file of their computer, but this is just me being one step of the idiots that think customers need recovery partitions at all....send the cd's instead!!
