HP Pavilion dv9000

The last time it was working I downloaded a motionjoy program so that I could use a playstation controller in the USB port. Upon restart the message came up, operating system not found pops up. The only thing I can do at this point is control alt delete to bring up the black screen with a big hp. At the bottom are the options. I can't do any diagnostics for some reason so I decided to try system recovery. The problem that I need answers for is that I can press f11 as much as I want and it will not respond. Did the hard drive crash? If not, how do I go about getting this laptop back into an operating state?

Re: HP Pavilion dv9000

Are you able to access the BIOS?

Did you make a recovery disk set?

Try removing the hard disk and then powering on the notebook. What does the notebook do?

Re: HP Pavilion dv9000

Hi

You have a couple of options as I see it please try these steps might help you to fix your issue.

1) Disconnect the Battery, Adapter & USB other periperial connected to Notebook First then press & hold the power button on Notebook for 30 seconds then turn on the unit and check if unit loads to windows.

2) Once unit is Powered on keep tapping the F8 key select the option called Safe Mode then try doing a System restore and check if unit works fine. If unit does not load to safe mode option then try next step given below.

3) Once unit is Powered on keep tapping the F10 key go to Diagnostics then run the Hard drive & Memory test if any test fails then you need to replace the part.

4) If both the test passes then try F11 option to do a Recovery before this kindly back up your data as it will be lost.

Let us know how it goes!
