the hard drive on my sons hp mini 110 failed. i have replaced the hard drive but how do i restore the OS and software to the new hard drive. I do not have any back up or recovery SW. The computer recognises the new hard drive. Clearly the first step is to re-install the OS, but how do I do this ?
I get to Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller to do a netwoek boot but I then get a message:
PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE RM
The Laptop was installed with Wndows 7

Hi
You have a couple of options as I see it either you can call HP technical support over the phone and order the Recovery disc or you can click on the web link given below and order the part yourself.
Order Recovery Discs for Windows 7, Vista, or XP
Let us know how it goes!

Hi, thanks for your reply.
I was having a look around the information on the site and found a link to a method for creating a recovery flash disk on a USB drive. This then links to a file to download : sp45774.exe
As the drive on the laptop I am trying to has died and been replaced I was wondering if it was possible to create this recovery USB using another computer. Is this possible ?
I have a desktop (Lenovo), but I also have another HP laptop so was wondering if I could create the recovery USB on one of these machines.
Thanks for your help.
Mike

That is for a working PC, since the hard drive failed you cannot make the usb recovery drive, you need to order the discs as suggested.

I have now received the recovery disks. The HP Mini does not have a CD drive so I need to transfer the files to a USB or is there any other way to use these disks with the mini 110 ? I do not have an external CD drive that I can plug in. I do have another laptop that I can use so can I use this either to create a USB recovery drive, or can I use the CD drive in the working laptop and connect this to the HP mini that needs to be resurrected.
Many thanks for your help

I don't know of a way to convert the discs to a usb drive, you would need to buy or borrow a usb dvd drive.
