I lost all my data after clicking F11

Hi everybody!

I have lost all my data when I clicked F11 and  factory recovery was executed.

Is there any way to return back the data? They are very important.

They were all my data, very important including all data from university - for more than 4 years.

Please help me. I need an urgent help. The operating system is Windows Vista Business Edition - it is licensed.

Best Regards,

Manuel

Re: I lost all my data after clicking F11

Hi Manuel,

Unfortunately I  have bad news for you.

F11 invokes the Recovery Manager, where you have a number of options. The following two options are under the I need help immediately section.

Microsoft System Restore is a nondestructive process. If you make a mistake you can roll your system back to a restore point on a date that works for you.

System recovery is, on the other hand, a destructive process which deletes all data. Before the process begins it does warn you.

You may be able to recover your data by contracting a data recovery company. It will be quite expensive and without a guarantee of success.

Did you not have your university data backed up on an external drive?

Re: I lost all my data after clicking F11

Hi, Erico :smileyhappy:

Thank you very much for the very  fast response!

Unfortunately I did not save my data to external hard or DVDs.

Till now I have made many preinstalls and alway my data was on other drive D that is kept after installation.

But this time there was serious problem with crashing windows and even booting installation DVD from BIOS.

Only F11 worked. So it is my fault I know I had to save the important data on DVD or external drive.

Maybe I have a chance to keep most of the data because I had them on my previous PC.

Have a nice day and again  thank you very much for the fast reaction :smileyhappy:

Best Regards,

Manuel
