Re: PC shut off all of a sudden, will not reboot in any mode.

Try another startup repair. See if it still says "Boot critical file d:\windows/system32\kdcom.dll is corrupt."

Re: PC shut off all of a sudden, will not reboot in any mode.

As soon as I start I see: windows failed to start. a recent hardware or software change might be the cause. i get an option to start normally or launch startup repair (recommended). When I start normally, the blue screen flashes quickly and brings me back to same screen. . When i Launch Startup Repair (Recommended) its runs the repair quickly and I get this message: "startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically" I can send the information about this problem or dont send. I hit send, and this message appears in a gray box, "If you have recently attached a devices..." (Same I got earlier). This is the same box I see the diagnostic and repair details. I can also view advanced options for system recovery and support (which brings me back to system recovery options).

[ Edited ]

Ok now we are down to a bluescreen error 1e

Load windows re again using F8 and then command prompt, type this command

chkdsk /r C:

hit enter

wait for it to complete, may take a long time.

then run this command

chkdsk /r D:

they will take some time to run depending on how large your hard drive is, let them complete overnight if needed.

when it is done try a normal boot.

Re: PC shut off all of a sudden, will not reboot in any mode.

I let it run. Did not work :smileysad: I rebooted, got the flash of the blue screen (so fast I couldnt read it), and it sent me back to the black screen that gave me the options of starting windows normally or running a recovery.
