When I try to run an Hp assistant tune up, after a few moments a blue screen appears telling me the windows shut itself down to to protect data and that I should uninstall any recently installed hardware.... I was thinking about running a system recovery but Im not quite sure what that is??

System Recovery is your plan "B" for emergency use.
It is destructive.
Yes, all of your data (documwents, photos, music and more) will be deleted and your notebook will be recovered to its delivered state f yo choose factory image recovery or without HP bundles software if yo choose minimal image recovery.
Did you have anything connected externally other than the power adapter when you ran the HP Support Assistant TuneUp?
