Problem Creating Recovery Disks on New Laptop

Hi Forum:
I began recovery disk creation procedure on an HP Pavilion g6. The notebook was purchased this morning at Costco.
I was using DVD+R DL disks from a package which had been used before for other recovery disk creations (on other new computers, of course.). The first disk set up and ran creating the first (of three) disks then hung at 54% of completion of verifying that disk. I left it for two hours, and it didn't change. Definitely had hung up.
This is frustrating since it is the second time in two days that this has happened. Yesterday, the system hung when creating a set of recovery disks after the first disk had been created and it had gone half way through the second disk.
I know that Costco would also take this current computer back but I don't have the time to do so before the owners leave on holiday. My choice is to do an AcronisTrue Image backup (done) then deal with the return to Costco later when they have returned.
I'm thinking that it may be the disks that I am using that are at fault, except for the fact that I was able to make a complete set just four days ago using disks from the same package.
Has anyone experienced any problems with the "HP Restore Disk Creation Program on the Current HP Laptops?

Recovery Creator doesn't support DL disks, only DVD-R or DVD+R.

Sorry to disagree Cheryl but it must, since I just created a full set with Verbatim DVD+R DL disks last week. It takes three disks. If you look at Recovery Manager, it states that clearly as the third option.
The computer these were created on was the same Notebook as this one which gave me the current trouble.
Any other suggestions?

I stand corrected.Maybe newer versions of Recovery Manager are changed, mine does not support DL, as the instructions here show.
Only other suggestion I have is to phone HP and tell them the Recovery Creator fails on the laptop.Usually they will send a set free of charge in that case.800-474-6836

Thanks again Cheryl. I think you are right. I had better call HP and explain what happened. I won't be able to do that for a while as the people who own it are leaving on vacation tomorrow and need it with them for email and skype.

The change in Recovery Manager goes to show how fast technology changes. It even offers the usb flash drive option which previously was a seperate download. I will be getting a new laptop next month so maybe I can catch up.![]()

I created restore/recovery disks before resetting my laptop to it's original condition. I don't see any way to now use those disks to bring back my files.
The system was very helpful creating the files - how do I use them?
