Hi,
I own a Pavilion dm4-1265dx. The original 640 gb hard drive that came with the computer recently failed and I obtained a replacement 500 gb hard drive. I have the 6 recovery disks that I made prior to the failure of the original hard drive. So I installed the new hard drive and ran the recovery disks. That went fine. When I got to the last disk it finished installing and then it instructed me to remove all the media and wait for the installation process to complete. I was told that the computer would restart itself several times and that would be normal. I removed the last recovery cd and pressed continued. The computer reboots but does not go beyond the screen displaying the HP logo. I waited about an hour to see if it would make progress but it didn't go any further. I restarted the process several times and ran the recovery disks again and again but it always gets stuck at the HP logo. Any solution to this problem?
Thank you

A smaller capacity hdd can cause Recovery to fail. At this point it is hard to tell if that is the cause since you don't get any messages. Enter BIOS by tapping/holding the F10 key immediately after powering on.Use Diagnostics to test the hdd.

I ran the hard disk test and it passed. The hard drive is good and does not seem to have any problems. I contacted HP technical support and after a few attempts and correcting the problem I was told that my recovery disks are probably bad and need to get recovery disks from HP. I ordered them but not sure if this will solve the problem. I was also told that had I bought the hard drive from HP, they would have also sent me recovery disks with it and the problem would have been solved. Now waiting for the recovery disks from HP to see if I can get my laptop to work.
