Hello. I have been forced to reformat my laptop. I was wondering if anyone has a good link to reformatiting a HP brand laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium?

Re: Reformatting Laptop

Hi,

If you are using Recovery Discs to reinstall the OS, these will automatically perform a quick format of the Hard Drive before starting the installation process.  If you are using a retail copy of Windows 7, choose 'Custom Installation' when the option becomes available and this will then allow you to delete any existing partitions, after which, the Hard Drive will be formatted before the installation begins.

Re: Reformatting Laptop

Thank you for the reply.

I was wondering if you knew a link listing the steps in creating the Recovery Disks.

Thanks.

Re: Reformatting Laptop

If the hard drive has already been reformated, then it is too lste.  You can order them form HP, though.

Re: Reformatting Laptop

Hi,

That's certainly odd, but try the following to remove the password and see if you can gain access.

Download the ISO on the following link.

PC Login Now

When downloaded, use a program such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO file to a CD.  A guide on how to use this is on the link below.

PC Login Now Guide

Insert the CD into your PC you can't log in to and restart to boot from the disc.

Hopefully this should simply remove your password altogether, so you can then just setup a new one.
