Trying to Install Windows 7 Recovery Cds on a new HD

HP Pavilion dv4-2165dx

"No bootable device found -- insert cd and press any key"

So my hard drive crashed on me, and I bought a new one from a 3rd party vender online and ordered recovery CDs for Windows 7 from HP.  I got three CDs total; 2 Windows 7 System Recovery DVDs (disk 1 & 2) and a CD labeled "Application and Driver Recovery CD".

After installing the new HD I put the 1st Windows Recovery DVD in and had the computer boot from it.  After a couple minuets of a blank screen, the error message "No bootable device found -- insert cd and press any key" appeared.  I tried restarting the computer several times but just kept getting the same message.

What is it that I am missing?  Am I suppose to do something with the HP Application and Driver Recovery CD first?

Any help it greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Re: Trying to Install Windows 7 Recovery Cds on a new HD

Hi:

You may have to create this CD patch and run it first when using factory W7 recovery disks on a new hard drive.

Re: Trying to Install Windows 7 Recovery Cds on a new HD

make sure that the notebook is completely shut off >> press power button while its powering up press on F10 on youre keyboard repeatedly until you see the BIOS then scroll to the right SYSTEM CONFIGURATION then scroll down look for BOOT OPTION hit ENTER then go to BOOT ORDER then there will be a list, highlight the INTERNAL CD/DVD DRIVE then press F5 or F6 to put it on the top of the list then press F10 to save the configuration then let the notebook reboot and you should she a prompt that windows is loading its file
there is no harm in trying, just always give your best shot!!!

Re: Trying to Install Windows 7 Recovery Cds on a new HD

Thanks for the help.  As it turns out it seems like there is something wronge with my optical drive.  I managed to get Windows installed by installing it from a flash drive instead.  Now I'm trying to get some of the drivers back on my computer so I can use the touch volume control and the scroll on the touch pad.  The CD isn't working because of my optical drive, is there anywhere where I can just get these drivers as a zip file?

Re: Trying to Install Windows 7 Recovery Cds on a new HD

Hi:

Just download them from here and copy them to a USB flash drive.
