I have a HP EliteBook 8740w running Windows 7 Enterprise (64-bit)
I have just upgraded the system BIOS with the latest version on the HP website (dtaed 5th Sept 2011)
Unfortunately I didn't not print off the bitlocker encryption key before doing so and cannot find the original pront out I made.
Now, the system won't book up and I get the following text ont he screen:
"The system boot information has changed since Bitlocker was enabled
You must supply a Bitlocker recovery ket to start this syetem
...
Otherwise restore the system boot information"
I would like to know how I can restore the system boot information. When upgrading the BIOS it recommended that I insert a USB flsh memory to back up the system data, this stick is still inserted in the laptop (as stated by the upgrade dialouge)
Can some please let me know how I can restore this boot system information otherwise I'm screwed!!!!
Cheers
Mike

The reason it's complaining is when you did the BIOS update, it reset the boot order back to it's default. BitLocker wants the encrypted drive to be first in the boot order. You can try going into the BIOS & changint the boot order again but I'm not sure if this will work because you're supposed to suspend encryption before doing this. Unfortunately, without the key, not much else you can do.

Not much to do? Help me understand....Are you saying buy new hard drive and install factory disks? Or, throw out the computer or maybe a lap warmer?
What are the options with this Bitlocker thing. I believe I may be struggling with trying to load hp recovery disks on a new hard drive. Trying all the tricks only to see the same msg on boot up. Missing bootmngr. I can not get my Windows 7 OS to load. I am thinking this BitLocker or drive protection is locking me out.
My Pavilion dv7 4073nr is barely out of warrenty and I am going crazy tring to load the OS.
Backstory cliff note version....power button hard shut down, ruined hdd, bought new hdd, recovery disks, another hdd and Cyberlink boot patch for KNOWN issues installing the OS on my model. Tried image backups, Norton Ghost, 360, ISO window7, USB floppy boot, network boot, flash BIOS, 1 stick ram, using only Power supply with no batt. Boothlper apps!
Anyone know the magic key secuence or hardware needs to be removed and replaced or reset or something. I hate to throw out a $1100 notebook that honestly, I love.
lesson learned, don't ever turn off notebook during updates!!!! EVER LOL
