I just bought a set of recovery DVD's for a HP pavilion DV5 - 1130ed laptop.
A brand new HDD has been mounted, because the old one was defective.
After inserting the System recovery DVD I get an error message: The instruction at 0xbla-bla-bla referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be read.
OS: Windows Vista Home premium - SP1
Does anyone have an idea ??

I am getting the same error message in exactly the same scenario. Can you please update the resolution for the problem you were facing ?

@fmalik,
I understand you are getting an error message using your recovery disks with a new HDD in your PC.
What is the product number?
NOTE: Do NOT provide the serial number.
Are the recovery disks HP provided or the set made from the PC?
Is the new HDD teh same size or larger than the old HDD?
Does the HP diagnostics determine that the HDD and RAM are good? The tests can be accessed by powering it on and pressing F2 about once a second.
