can,t boot into recovery

I bought HP Pavilion g6-1240se Notebook PC about a month ago it had windows 7 home basic x64 installed on it
I upgraded the OS to windows 7 ultimate but something went wrong so i decide to recover it to the original factory condition but recovery manager said that option is disabled (that is when i launch recovery manager from windows) so i decided to do the recovery by pressing F11 on startup but i got this error message:

file: /boot/BDC

status: 0xc0000225

info: an error occured when trying to read boot cofiguration

so is there any chance we can fix that knowing that i still got the recovery partition on my hard drive and unfortunatly i didn't makr a recovery media before i upgrade the system

looking forward for your help

Re: can,t boot into recovery

Hi,

The following assumes you still have a 64bit version of Windows 7.

If you don't already have one, use another PC to create a Windows 7 Rescue CD.  Download the ISO from the link below.

Windows 7 64bit

You should use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO to a CD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  Once created, or if you already have this, insert the Rescue CD into the notebook and restart to boot from it.  Select Repair Your Computer and choose the Command Prompt.  When this loads, enter the following commands and hit enter after each one - include spaces as shown.

Bootrec.exe

bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup

c:

cd boot

attrib bcd -s -h -r

ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old

bootrec /RebuildBcd

bootrec /fixmbr

bootrec /fixboot

Remove the Rescue CD restart the notebook and see if you can now launch Recovery Manager using f11.

Regards,

Re: can,t boot into recovery

Hi,

Boot from the Rescue CD again, Select Repair Your Computer and choose the Command Prompt.  When this loads, enter the following commands and hit enter after each one - include spaces as shown.

diskpart

list disk

select disk x       ( where x is the number of disk the partition is on – most likely 0 ( Zero ) )

list partition

select partition x    ( where x is the Recovery Partition number )

active

exit

exit

Remove the Rescue CD and restart the notebook – if this has been successful, the notebook will now boot from the Recovery Partition on reboot.

If the above fails to work, your only other option would be to order a replacement set of Recovery Discs using the link below.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00810334&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en

If you have any problem with this link, order them directly from HP.
