no os on hard drive

I have the compaq C061 laptop PC.

 

Was watching a video and got the blue screen.  I turned off the PC and rebooted the PC and now I get,

Boot device not found

Please install an OS on your hard drive

Hard disk (3FO)

 

Can I just restore the boot sector on the hard drive with the restore disc?

This may be possible. Insert the Windows 7 install disc, boot from it, select "Repair your computer", check the operating system you want to repair, and select "Command Prompt". From the command prompt, type:
bootrec.exe /FixMbr
Tell me if this works. Otherwise, you may need a recovery.
