notebook recovery error

When using the HP recovery disks for the G56-129WM notebook, I get the following error: Fail to create D:\SDV.FLG

I have redone the computer twice and have gotten the same error twice. Then it takes forever for the computer to come up when turning it on. Is there a way to fix this error or are the recovery disks bad?

Hi,

Shutdown the notebook.  Tap away at f10 as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu.  Under the Advanced or Diagnostic tab you should find the facility to run tests on both the Hard Drive and Memory.  Post back with the details of any error messages.

Also post back with the operating system and version you are trying to reinstall ( ie Windows 7 64bit ).

Hi cdavidson...did you ever get this resolved. I'm having the same problem with my recovery disc. Getting the "failed to create E:/sdv.flg ...then...copy file fails from D:/preload/base.wim to ....

from D:/preload/base.wim to ....C:\RM\Image\BASE.WIM    Press OK to retry does not proceed and cannot go any further with the recovery---Please help????

Anyone solve this? I just rec'd my laptop today and it blue screened during setup and tried recovery and same issue...couldn't copy SDV.FLG
