Re: old recovery disc

@ Betty_Girl

Vista OEM will not work with the product key which is underneath the laptop.

Re: old recovery disc

Dear,

Once you insert the disc, kindly restart the notebook and when it ask you to press any key to boot from CD. just press any key.

If its not working then you need to go for a new set of recovery discs which can be purchased online or by contact HP Support.

Mohammed Mukram

Re: old recovery disc

Below is a extract from a microsoft forum.

what i would do. Go online download Vista Home Premium ISO and use your OEM key to activate Windows. It will work and it's perfectly legal as long as you are using your OEM product key that came with your system. See in Windows people don't pay 200+ bucks for the OS disc they pay 200+ bucks for the product key, which is why if you lose your product key you have to pay 200+ dollars again to get another one.

Re: old recovery disc

Dear,

OEM means original Equipment manufacturer... OEM product key will work only with the disc which came with that particular notebook...not with any otehr OEM disc

Re: old recovery disc

So if I buy a set of system recovery discs from HP that contain an OEM OS(Vista Home Premium) and the drivers, then what you are saying Mohammad is that they wont work with the OEM activation code on the bottom of the laptop because they are not the original OEM disc.

I don't think you know what your talking about.

Re: old recovery disc

Dear,

You have to buy Vista OEM disc which is particularly manufactured for your notebook... Then only the activation key underneath your notebook will work.

If you get any other OEM disc from HP, instead of the one manufacured for your notebook.. the activation key will not work..

If you still have any doubts, contact HP support...they will say the same thing.....

Regards,

Mohammed Mukrams.
