Re: recovery HP Envy M6

When requesting assistance, please provide the complete model name and/or product number of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq makes thousands of models of computers that are all different. Without this information it may be difficult or impossible to assist you in resolving your issue.

HP doesn't recommend the installation of Windows 7 nor will it support the installation of Windows 7 on a computer shipped with Windows 8. HP will not provide Windows 7 drivers and suitable drivers may not be available for the hardware in the computer. Additionally, Windows 7 may not support some of the hardware or software features designed for the computer.

Please create your HP Recovery Discs or USB Recovery media prior to changing or modifying anything on your computer.

Your computer most likely has a UEFI compatible BIOS and GPT partitioned drive running Windows 8.  You will need the DISABLE "Secure Boot" and ENABLE "Legacy Support" Before proceeding.

I suggest using a Windows SP1 installation disc. You need to boot the disc using "UEFI - CD/DVD boot drive" boot option and not "Legacy - CD/DVD boot drive". Using legacy makes the Windows installer usable only on MBR partitioned disks.
