Yeah, I had to pay about fifteen dls to HP to get a recovery disk...Few years ago recovery disks use to come with any notebook purchased no additional charger but of course name brand was not HP.

OH, my God..I just check my bank statement HP made 3 different transaction for one back up disk which it was $14.95..I don't recognize the other 2: one for the amount of $16.18 other for $1.00 customer service said Ca tax..That's it's a total bs, it's impossible to add aditional 16.18, 1.00..tax.This are additional from the 14.95...You have no idea how upset I am right now...I have the proof that it was supost to be just the 14.95 because I got the comfirmation number for it....How can HP made unauthorize transaction???????????????????? Very upset...I not going to recommend HP to anyone at this point....

Re: system recovery windows 7 with partition

Contacting HP is a pain in the back; I've spend two hours (wasted out of my monthly minutes) for nothing - all they did was transfering me to a different department, for two long hours since I have a receipt of my order along with order number will file for dispute. Boy did I learn something today: not to buy another product from this company ever, ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now if you moderator want to delete this comment go ahead, this post has no offensive language, just the truth what I have gone through with HP.I know it's just a few dollars but I will NOT tolerate abuse by over changing me three times, three times for one item. And for all of you customers out there don't let this to happen to you.

Re: system recovery windows 7 with partition

Turned out the my cousins Computer had a virus (several), on the C drive and the recovery partition. I removed the hard drive and connected it to my computer and MS security essentials jump up and told me that my computer was infected. I was able to run HP system checks when I pressed the ESC key I could check the bios, ram and HD. After running antivirus program the system booted just fine.

Re: system recovery windows 7 with partition

I have a HP G72 Notebook that when it came from the factory had Windows 7 home premium, the original hard drive crashed and i had a friend replace it....it started with a 320 GB hard drive and was replaced with an 80 GB hard drive and Windows XP.....I saw an add with Windows 8 Beta and decided i wanted to try it out...i saved my Windows 7 xp to the hard drive in a folder and continued with the download.....after using Windows 8 Beta for about 2 months i decided i wanted to switch back, but unbeknown to me, the Windows 8 Beta overwrote all my files including the Windows 7 xp files i had saved...so i ordered the System Recovery from HP, the 64 bit version......my question is....what can you do if the recovery discs dont work that you got from the factory??????      I know it only takes 20GB of space for the OS, so 80GB is plenty of space....I put the discs in in order, disconnected everything like i was suppose to and they didnt work.....however, i did not give up, i re-ran the discs 5 times thinking it would eventually work...i was wrong.....Please Help!!!
