system recovery

i have set  boot option as  start  from optical rom device,but why didn‘t it  really work?it still start from harddisk

If you are attempting to boot from a CD/DVD and it continually goes to the hard drive then you might have a bad optical drive.  If this is the case then I would call 1-800-hp invent for service.  Make sure you have changed the boot order to boot from CD first in the BIOS or you can try pressing F2 at boot and you should get an option to boot from CD.  Hopfully this helps.
