HP Pavillion TS11 Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My notebook crashes frequently  and the screen goes green with error code dxgmms2.sys. This has been happening since the recent major update to to Windows 10 64-bit.

I thoght that the AMD graphics card was at fault but when I attempted to upgrade  it via  Cotrol Panel >Settings>Device mager >Display Adapter Windows  gave me a screen message said that it was up todate.

Any help on how to resolve  this recurring problem would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @masaka

Thank you for posting back.

I really appreciate your time and efforts.

The driver updates which you get from Windows update are generic drivers. You can download the latest drivers from HP website or from the device manufacturer website.

Also, you can turn windows driver on in the future if required.

I trust the above resolves your queries. Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Follow below steps and check if it helps.

Please turn off automatic driver installation: Here is how it is done

1. Go to Search the web and Windows, type change device installation settings in the Search box and then press ENTER.

2. In the Device Installation Settings window, select No, let's me choose what to do.

3. Select Never install driver software from Windows Update.

4. Click Save Changes.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Thank you very much for your responnse and I warmly welcome your willingness to help me with this recurring problem. Not being a computer wizard, I am worried that if I turn off driver software updates via Windows Update, I could get stuck if my computer got no driver software  updates at all.

Please let me know how I would keep the computer updated with driver software updates  if I turned off  driver software updates via Windows Update.
