Probook 6540b

I have a HP Probook 6540b notebook. When I bought it, it had Windows 7 installed. Last fall, I decided to do the upgrade check and the hp site I used told me that my notebook was ready to be updated to Windows 10. So I did. Before the process, I backed up everything important, just in case. Appeared to be an unnecessary action. After the upgrade, everything worked out fine. Until I needed my webcam. I have been unable since last octobre to find a WindowsX driver to get my onboard webcam working. HP only offers drivers for Windows 7, Vista and XP, which are not my OS. Does anyone have any clue how to cure this problem? Or should I just spent about €25 and buy a WindowsX-compatible webcam? Thanx in advance for your assistence!

Hi:

The only suggestion I can offer would be to try the W10 universal webcam driver from the newer model 6570b notebook.

This package contains an HP Universal Camera Driver to support the integrated webcams for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system.

I'll try if it works or not! Just installed it, now I will reboot....

When I opened the downloaded file, nothing happened. When I rebooted afterwards, there was still no sign of any webcam-activity. I am sorry, but this 'solution' didn't work for me.

Sorry that didn't work.

Unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions to offer other than trying the W8.1 universal camera driver from your notebook's support page.
