Thanks for the feedback VByl. Which one? I submitted 2 - 1 temp & 1 from my student nephew which is permanent.

Thanks. The second permanent method worked for me. I never needed the blue keys anyway.

How do I access the blue characters on the Hp Laptop keyboard?

I gave 3 answers to this back in 2012. Look for the 3rd permanent solution I got from my nephew. My nickname should be BBlock ...  Ihave not seen the blue characters since then.

To get rid of the French e you somehow got on your keyboard:

Press Control and Shift at the same time.

I found the solution.
When you have the é is because you accidentally activated the weird symbols mode. It's activated by pressing Ctrl+fn+right Shift. To deactivate, press Ctrl+fn+right Shift twice, meaning Ctrl+fn+right Shift then let go of Shift while still holding Ctrl and fn, then press Shift again.
It took me 15 mins of methodical button pressing to figure this out.

really shouldnt be this hard !!!

I figure i should add:

Been stuck in the blue symbol mode for ages. the Crtl+fn+shift would not work on my HP notebook to turn this setting off. I decided to try fn+alt+shift and happily that worked!

I can "?" again!
