unlock (reset) BIOS/CMOS password for HP DV7-4177nr

I bought this HP pavilion DV7-4000 laptop on eBay and wasn't provided with its BIOS Password So I can't use it as I don't know the BIOS/CMOS password previously used by the seller. Can some one help me torecover the passwor Please? Help!

Hi:

Enter any password 3 times, and you should get a system disabled (halt) code.

Post the code you get and I will post an unlock code to enter.

Then you can go into the BIOS's security menu and clear the password or create your own.

No.

If you don't care to lose what is on the notebook, try a factory reset by tapping the F11 key at the beginning of the HP welcome screen to see if you can access the recovery manager.

Then...

You can:

1. Use the unlock code you generated to enter the BIOS

2. Disable all passwords that are enabled in the BIOS's security menu.

3. If asked for current password - type the unlock code

4. For new password, just press ENTER key

5. Repeat the same for verify password column.
