I bought this HP pavilion DV7-4000 laptop on eBay and wasn't provided with its BIOS Password So I can't use it as I don't know the BIOS/CMOS password previously used by the seller. Can some one help me torecover the passwor Please? Help!

If you don't care to lose what is on the notebook, try a factory reset by tapping the F11 key at the beginning of the HP welcome screen to see if you can access the recovery manager.

If that process fails to work, you will have to order a set of recovery disks by clicking on the link below and then click to expand the line labeled Order Recovery Media. Then click on the blue More Details button.

Hi:
Please read this post which should resolve your dilemma.
Then...
You can:
1. Use the unlock code you generated to enter the BIOS
2. Disable all passwords that are enabled in the BIOS's security menu.
3. If asked for current password - type the unlock code
4. For new password, just press ENTER key
5. Repeat the same for verify password column.
