Antenna connection seems loose after replacing antenna that had broken pin

The antenna that came with my  the TV tuner in my HP Pavilion dv7t had its pin break off. HP replaced the antenna, but I'm still having some problems. The antenna doesn't seem to stay connected to the computer very well and I'm not sure why. It is very loose and doesn't seem to go into the connector on the computer as far as it should. It's possible that the pin for the old antenna broke off inside the connector on the computer. Looking at that connector, there appears to be a small pin in the middle of it. I'd never really looked at the connector closely before, so I'm not sure what it looked like before the pin broke. Can somebody who has a similar TV tuner/connector (and good enough eyesight to see these tiny pins) look at theirs and tell me the answers to these questions to help me determine what (if anything) is wrong with my antenna and/or tuner?:

  1. Is there supposed to be a pin in the computer's antenna connector? I'm not sure if I'm seeing the broken-off pin from my old antenna or if there is supposed to be a pin there that makes contact with the one in the antenna.
  2. If there is a pin in the connector, is it solid or hollow? Mine appears solid, but it occurred to me that it could have been a thin, hollow tube that the pin broke off inside. If so, I'll have to try to figure out how to get the pin out.
  3. Does the metal part of the antenna connector go all the way in the computer when it is plugged in and does it stay in firmly? I never really paid attention before, but there is now a little bit of the metal part of the antenna plug sticking out and it seems to connect very loosely and wiggle around easily. Maybe it was always like that and I just didn't really notice before. This antenna doesn't seem to be picking up channels as well as the other one did (before the pin broke), though, so I'm not sure if that's due to making a poor connection with the computer.

Thanks in advance for any help. I'm hoping I can get the antenna working again so I can use my TV tuner once more.

Re: Antenna connection seems loose after replacing antenna that had broken pin

I do not see a pin in my antenna connection. On my dv4t the connector makes a definite snap noise when it is plugged in and it is not loose when that occurs. When seated I can still see about 1/16 " of metal.

I'm not sure if the dv4 and dv7 have the same kind of tuner or not. Do you (or any dv4 or dv7 owners) have a picture of the port? That would help me figure out if it's the same kind or not.
