Blu-rays refuse to play on my HDX16t.

I've tried everything I can possibly think of to fix this apparent bug but all I seem to get is failure.  Ok, I updated mediasmart to the latest version (2.2.2.3309) and tried to run the Transformers blu-ray; however, the system lags and doesn't play anything even with no programs running.  I figured this was an HP problem so I downloaded powerdvd9 ultra and when I try to play a blu-ray it gives me a message that reads "unsupported media source." 

 

I would try to reinstall the os but I really don't want to do that because someone else had the same problem I had and that's how he fixed it.  I'm; however, looking for alternatives.  Any suggestions will help

Yea,

        I just bought a HP HDX 16 and when I tried to play a blu-ray disc, after 1 minute the Laptop crashed. When I rebooted I got a message blaming the optical drive and was directed to some driver upgrades. Now it wont work at all. Tried loads of things to no avail. have sent an email to HP and waiting (not hopefully) for a reply/solution.

HP support forum all questions no solutions

 

Still - spinningmy wheels.  I can;t get 2012 bluray t lay on my HDX18. Plays some previews and cycles through background of menu screen but shows no menu. Disk works fine on the store's PS3.

 

Upadted to death. no improvements

clean disk works on pS3 at store.
