I purchased a customized dv6zSE in August ('10). After spending over three (3) hours with Tech Support we were unable to get the BluRay player to recognize the disc. We deleted and reinstalled software, drivers, and anything else they could think of. I finally threw my hands up and sent the laptop back. It's replacement arrived two (2) weeks later but had to be sent back because the lighted keyboard was defective. It's replacement, my third dv6zSE, arrived on Thursday and everything looked fine until I tried to play a BluRay disc. Lo and behold, the MediaSmart DVD software could not access the disc player. DVDs and BluRay discs were treated as if they were invisible even though they were recognized by "Computer". I removed and reinstalled the software to no effect. Not wanting to send this back for a fourth laptop, I downloaded a trial version of Cyberlink's PowerDVD and guess what? It now works perfectly. So now I am faced with spending $100 for software to replace the inoperative MediaSmart software.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, what was your solution??
Thanks in advance.

See this thread and follow my instructions for a possible solution.
You may also have to update your BIOS, Chipset and Video driver.
