Laptop screen goes black when I plug in HDMI cable from TV

I have a HP G60-214EM. My laptop and my TV both have HDMI inputs. When I plug the HDMI cable into my laptop from the TV, my laptop screen goes black and freezes and won't come back on. I have tried plugging the HDMI cable in whilst the laptop is switched off and changing the laptop display settings and neither work. I have searched forums but cannot find any solution to this problem. Can any one help?

 

Operating system is Windows 7 64-bit and TV is Sony Bravia. I have also tried with another TV and it did the same thing so I assume it is either the laptop or the cable. Thanks.

I have the EXACT same problem, did you ever get a solution?
