Retrofitting a Blu-ray Drive into My Laptop

[ Edited ]

I have a HP Pavilion dv7-1451nr  purchased during the Fall of 2009.  It has been updated to Windows 7 Professional.

Can I replace the present CD-DVD drive in it with a Blu-ray Drive?

Also, can I retrofit a TV tuner into the same laptop?

Does HP have these available and what drivers need be installed?  Do you have any information on your site that gives more discussion on such a retrofit?

Thanks for any information.

Re: Retrofitting a Blu-ray Drive into My Laptop

According to your maintenance and service guid there is a specific Blu-Ray ROM available for you laptop HP

 part # 480461-001

 Here is you service guide.

As for the TV tuner, there is usually a blank spot in the laptop for this, check the guide out.

The software is available for both of these. There are no drivers per say.

A word of caution, you may have to do a clean install to W7 to get these things to run properly. I will help you with that if need be. There is a right and wrong way to do a clean install.

The Blu-ray software may not function properly with an upgrade, HP's Media Smart DVD is very finicky when it comes to W7 upgrades.
